Black Jack

How to Play Black Jack!

Objective:

The objective of blackjack is to beat the dealer's hand without going over 21. Each player plays against the dealer, not against other players.

Card Values:

Cards 2 through 10 are worth their face value.

Face cards (Jack, Queen, King) are each worth 10 points.

Aces can be worth either 1 point or 11 points, whichever is more advantageous for the player.

Gameplay:

Initial Bet: Players place their bets before any cards are dealt.

Dealing the Cards: The dealer deals two cards to each player face up and two cards to themselves, one face up and one face down.

Player's Turn:

If a player is dealt an Ace and a 10-value card (10, Jack, Queen, King), it's called a "blackjack" and usually pays out at 3:2 odds (meaning you win 1.5 times your bet).

Players then have several options:

Hit: Take another card to try to get closer to 21 without going over.

Stand: Decline additional cards and keep the current total.

Double Down: Double your initial bet and receive exactly one more card.

Split: If the first two cards dealt to a player have the same value, they may split them into two separate hands. Each hand is then played independently.

Surrender: Some variants allow players to surrender and forfeit half of their bet if they feel they have a weak hand.

Dealer's Turn:

After all players have finished their turns, the dealer reveals the face-down card.

The dealer must hit until their hand reaches a total of 17 or higher.

Determining the Winner:

If the player's hand exceeds 21, they bust and lose their bet.

If the dealer busts, all remaining players win.

If neither player busts, the hand with the highest total wins. In the case of a tie (called a "push"), the player's bet is returned.

Blackjack (an Ace and a 10-value card) beats any other hand totaling 21.

Basic Strategy:

While blackjack is a game of both luck and skill, basic strategy can help players make the most statistically advantageous decisions. Basic strategy charts are widely available and provide guidance on when to hit, stand, double down, or split based on the player's hand and the dealer's upcard.
